A commercial free music video recorded entirely with cell phones was shot in Seattle for the Australian band, the Presidents of the United States. Recording the music video for their hit single, “Some Postman”, the entire production was recorded with cell phones.

“We came up with this idea 18 months ago but couldn’t find a band that would embrace the risk and vision. PUSA loved the concept and were brave enough to undertake the risk. This was a fantastic experience for all of us. The band was fabulous,” said music video producer Nick Wolff.

Shooting over the course of just one day in Seattle, the production company, Film Headquarters, used several Sony video cell phones, and then transferred the footage to a Mac using the phones’ on-board Bluetooth.

So how does it look?

According to the director, Grant Marshall of Film Headquarters, “The result is great and the look reminiscent of the movies available on Quicktime in the 90s. The funniest part of the shoot was to see a mobile phone sitting on a tripod - it’s quite a sight. With mobile phone camera resolutions doubling every few years, people will probably look back and say this idea was so 2005.”

But don’t take his word for it, see for yourself. You can go right here to download the free music video (Quicktime required).
