Twitter users will soon start seeing #TwitterArchive trending. Twitter has announced that they are now allowing users to download their entire archive history to store for their own personal files. The archiving feature will allow users to download past tweets and retweets, and users can look at their archives by month and search keywords, hashtags, usernames and phrases.

The Wickr self-destructing message app (pronounced “Wicker”) gives you complete messaging security. This is because you can set your messages to self-destruct after a certain time, assuring that your privacy is protected. Wickr works with both email and text messages, and the intention is that the self-destructing Wickr message app will also be able to be used with services like Twitter and Facebook, one day.

Got a question for the Pope? Well it’s not quite carrier pigeon, but you can now tweet your question to the Pope, @pontifex, with #askpontifex. Pope Benedict has officially joined Twitter and, despite not having sent out any tweets yet, he already has over 400,000 followers.

Bill Prady, executive producer of the hit show The Big Bang Theory, took to Twitter to air his grievances with United Airline’s customer service department. In an unprecedented presidential move, President Obama has called upon people to start using a Twitter hashtag: MY2K, in regards to the fiscal cliff. The MY2K (as in “my 2k” – the extra $2,000 that would come from the current tax cut extension being proposed) campaign calls upon Twitter users (and has crossed over to Facebook) to tweet what they would do with an extra $2,000 and use the hashtag MY2K.

Known as the “NASA Mohawk Guy,” Ferdowsi shot to fame for not only helping to successfully land the Curiosity rover on Mars, but for sporting a much-televised mohawk while doing so, spawning an Internet meme.

The new Facebook “Profiles for Couples” movement is quietly growing on Facebook. If you feel that your shared Snuggie or email address does not make you and your significant other enough of an amorphous couple blob, never fear, there is a group of co-dependant couples aiming to create shared Facebook pages. Because nothing says “healthy relationship” quite as much as a lack of personal identity.

If you received an email from Twitter prompting you to change your password due to a possible hack, you’re not alone. It was a mistake from Twitter, who has issued a statement explaining what happened.

Ann Coulter is drawing ire after publicly tweeting the word “retard,” in reference to Barack Obama. When Coulter not only used the word publicly, but then staunchly refused to apologize for it, the community fired back in outrage, calling her remarks careless and offensive.

Donald Trump has yet again managed to create controversy just by opening his mouth, or rather, updating his Twitter account. This time he got his behind handed to him by Chrysler Veep Ralph Gilles for perpetuating false claims stated by Romney, when Giles told Trum – very publicly – that he was, and we qoute, “full of shit.”

The Obama administration is proposing to strengthen child privacy laws, and Internet giants Facebook, Twitter and Google are not happy. According to the three websites, the proposed law changes will interfere with their user’s ability to tweet, share information on the Web, and to “like” Facebook posts. They also say that these changes hamper free speech.
