If you use Apple’s Mac mail app, occasionally you may find that your deleted email is not going to the trash folder (i.e. don’t go in the ‘trash mailbox’ as Apple calls it). Or you do an email-wide search, and while your trash is included in your search, it’s not turning up that email that you know you just deleted. Here’s one reason that deleted mail messages may not be in your trash folder in Mac mail.

It turns out that the much awaited Apple Watch malfunctions and doesn’t work if you wear it with a tattoo! Being dubbed #TattooGate, one might be surprised at just how many folks sporting tattoos have also ordered Apple Watches. The inked are apparently a market segment that Apple failed to consider when designing the Apple Watch.

Starting with OS X 10.7, Apple caused your Mac to start making “Mobile Backups” of “Local Snapshots” to the MobileBackups directory (technically .MobileBackups) on your hard drive. It does this whenever your Mac is away from your Time Machine backup drive, such as your Time Capsule.

As preposterous as it may sound, it seems that the Apple Maps satellite may have captured an image of the fabled Loch Ness monster, Nessie. Described as looking like the wake of a boat, but with no boat around, the image distinctly shows something that seems to be underwater, and appears to have fin-like appendages on either side.

Apple has released a critical security update for iPhone and iPad iOS 7 and iOS 6. This urgent update is to fix the critical security vulnerability that exposes your data (including usernames, passwords, and other account credentials at nearly any website or service) to a “Man in the Middle” (MitM) attack.

Apple iBeacon is a way for stores (any store, not just Apple stores) to push advertisements to you once you are inside the store, using bluetooth technology. So, when you are inside a department store, for example, in the shoe department, the store might use iBeacon to push an advertisement to your phone saying that they have a sale going on in the sock aisle.

The Internet, the country, and indeed the whole world is abuzz with the news of PRISM, the no-longer-secret program of the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) first exposed by Glenn Greenwald of the British newspaper The Guardian, through which the United States federal government is accessing and mining all sorts of user data from the major ISPs and possibly cell phone companies. Data which is potentially about just about anybody and everybody, even you. The list of companies and ISPs alleged to be involved with PRISM, by which we mean allowing the government to data mine their users’ data, is impressive (read as “scary”) indeed, although most of them are quick to deny it. However, we have evidence (see screenshots below) that even though they are denying it, Apple, Microsoft, Yahoo, Facebook, PalTalk, YouTube, Skype, and AOL are all involved. There are rumours of DropBox and Amazon joining. And Verizon is also giving the Feds access to their user data. But as 1984 as this all is, we really only have one question: why is anybody surprised?

According to “sources”, Apple will be announcing a new iPhone trade in program late this month. The sources say that Apple has created a partnership with mobile phone distributer and trade-in master Brightstar.
