Lori Drew, the woman who pretended to be a teenaged boy named Josh Evans on MySpace, for the sole purpose of harrassing teen Megan Meier – which lead to Megan Meier’s suicide – and who was arraigned and charged in Federal court in May, has pleaded “not guilty”.
Charged with accessing a protected computer to obtain information used to inflict emotional distress, and conspiracy, Lori Drew faces as much as 20 years in prison if convicted.
Here’s the thing – I have never once read or seen anything to suggest that Lori Drew is repentant about what happened. And by all accounts, she considered Meier, at best, a ‘troubled girl’ – yet she played what became the ultimate mindgame with Meier – pretending to be a teenaged boy who befriended her, then dumped her and told her that the world would be better off without her.
Apparently Meier took that advice to heart.
Now, technically Drew may not be guilt of the crimes under which they are trying to nail her – but she sure as hell is guilty of a lot of other things. Possessing a heart, however, is apparently not one of them.

I completely agree with you. I got into a debate about this with my boyfriend the other day. They’re charging Lori Drew under a law that wasn’t designed for this, but even if the charges don’t stick, she’s still a completely reprehensible individual. I hope the parents sue her in civil court and take every penny she has.
