If you use either AOL instant messenger or iChat, chances are good that you have started getting the “AIM Pages Invite” spam from the AIMPagesInvite AOL instant messenger buddy. Here’s what this is all about.
First, you may be wondering whether the AIM pages invite from the AIMpagesinvite buddy is legitimate or not. After all, we’ve all been told not to click on links sent to us in instant message by people we don’t recognize. Despite that, this is, in fact, a real invitation from AOL, to participate in their AIM pages program. In fact, the invite was most likely initiated by one of your own buddies, inviting you to view their own AIM page.
So just what is an AIM page?
In essence, it’s AOL’s answer to MySpace. Here is what AOL has to say about the AIM pages program:
“An AIM Page is your face and space on the Web. AIM Pages’ features and tools help you easily express yourself, connect with friends, family and others like you. When you create an AIM Page, you can include photos, videos, news, music and more. With our publishing tools, your can “skin” your page with different themes and choose modules that allow you to be as creative as you want. An indicator on your AIM Buddy List will notify you when your buddies update their AIM Pages.”

How do you stop it from popping up? There is no one I know that is CONSTANTLY asking me to add them, and seems to happen several times a day. I have all my friends on there already, and not one uses Aim Page. Remedy?
