Using the Internet to Help an Abandoned Puppy   - 1,448 Views,

Summary: We try to use the Internet to do good. We hope that offsets some of the bad that people do on the Internet. For example, many of you are familiar with (and indeed contributed to) our efforts to raise funds to buy food for the people of Dushanbe, Tajikistan when they experienced such a severe winter last year. Today we're going to talk about something much closer to home - something on a much smaller scale. In fact, such a small scale that it will take only one of you to make a difference. But somebody has to - so if you can, don't assume that somebody else will.

We try to use the Internet to do good. We hope that offsets some of the bad that people do on the Internet. For example, many of you are familiar with (and indeed contributed to) our efforts to raise funds to buy food for the people of Dushanbe, Tajikistan when they experienced such a severe winter last year.

Today we’re going to talk about something much closer to home - something on a much smaller scale. In fact, such a small scale that it will take only one of you to make a difference. But somebody has to - so if you can, don’t assume that somebody else will.

My daughter found an abandoned puppy in her yard. Perhaps the people knew that my daughter does animal rescue work. Or perhaps the puppy knew. Regardless, she (the puppy) ended up in the right place. Unfortunately, it was only a temporary right place, because my daughter is already maxed on the number of dogs that she can have where she is. And there is no local rescue available to which she can go.

That means that Puppy has only two options - she finds a loving home - or she goes to a shelter.

Now, this is no regular puppy. She is an adorable, and incredibly sweet puppy.

As best as anyone can figure she is a Sheltie/Dachshund/Chihuahua/Terrier-type mix.

She is about 12 weeks old.

She weights 7 pounds, and is not likely to get much bigger than 20 pounds.

Here is her description, from my daughter, with pictures below:

“She is VERY sweet and social. She absolutely loves playing with other dogs. She is very submissive. She is an all around cool puppy - she is very active, but at the same time, she will keep herself busy chewing on her chew toy and you will hardly know that she is there. She has caught on to potty training really quickly - only one accident in the week that I have had her. And she sleeps through the night! Which, as any of you who have ever had a puppy knows, is a god-send. She does get car sick; but that seems to be improving the more that she rides in cars.”

(Isn’t she adorable??)

Puppy is currently in Sacramento, California, however volunteers are prepared to create a puppy caravan to get her to anywhere in the United States.

There is an adoption fee to recover the costs of getting her spayed, microchipped and vaccinated; it will be at rescue cost, so no more than $100.

If you or someone you know is interested in giving this sweet little girl a home, please send email to us
here.
