Tivo has announced that it has added the ability to download television shows via the Internet, directly to your Tivo hard drive. And sometimes before the shows even air on cable!
Announcing the deal struck with the Independent Film Channel (IFC), Tivo indicated that Tivo customers would be able to start downloading content from IFC as early as next week.
For those of you not familiar with the Independent Film Channel, here is how they describe themselves:
“IFC creates the movies that people talk about; we work with the director who gets the accolades for taking chances; we obsess about independent films on television. Independent films stand the test of time. They are not reliant on the latest fad, trend or special effect. Instead they are provocative, challenging and enlightening – representing a point of view, the personal vision of the filmmaker. This vision remains valid, the stories remain relevant, and the emotional connection is still as real years later as it was the day the film was released.”
But IFC isn’t just about films. They also offer series, documentaries, animation, shorts, exclusive originals, and coverage of all the major independent film festivals. IFC series include “Dinner for Five” (Jon Favreau of “Swingers” and “Elf” dines and dishes with guest celebrities), now in its third season, and the returning “Greg the Bunny”.
All commercial free, and uncut.
