There has been an 84% increase in product placement on television shows in the past year, and many blame products like Tivo, which allow viewers to skip regular commercials.
Owners of the Apple iPod and Sony PSP who also have Tivo are now able to play their favorite television shows right on their iPod Video or PSP thanks to TivoToGo’s new free iPod downloads and Sony PSP downloads.
Tivo owners can now program their Tivos through Yahoo! TV’s web interface, selecting shows for recording right from the comfort of their own computer screen.
Tivo has just added a $150.00 cancellation fee to their service contract, people are plenty unhappy.
Tivo is offering a $150.00 rebate, which is really sweet. But sweeter still is that you can get a Tivo right now for only $99.00, making it free after the rebate!
Tivo has announced that it has added the ability to download television shows via the Internet, directly to your Tivo hard drive. And sometimes before the shows even air on cable! Announcing the deal struck with the Independent Film Channel (IFC), Tivo indicated that Tivo customers would be able to start downloading content from IFC […]
Tivo first came to prominence as the company which allowed its customers to record whatever they wanted from television whenever they wanted – anything, any time – with the touch of a button. And it allowed its customers to skip commercials. Woohoo! It turns out that customers really like this. In fact, Aunty talked about […]
A new study released in the UK this week indicates that DVR (digital video recorders, such as the Tivo and the ReplayTV) owners fast forward through commercials. Well, duh. There’s a funny phenomena we’ve noticed since getting a ReplayTV, and which we’ve since confirmed with all of our friends and colleagues who own Tivo or ReplayTV recorders – contrary to what one might expect, you actually end up watching less television rather than more once you have one.

Invites You to Join Its First Quarter Fiscal Year 2006 Conference Call and Webcast (News Release) ALVISO, Calif., May 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — TiVo Inc. (Nasdaq: TIVO) announced its […]
Have you heard about the “broadcast flag”? It’s an anti-copying scheme for digital broadcasts which has been mandated by the FCC. The broadcast flag is essentially a two-part scheme: part one is the flag itself – a little bit of data included in the digital broadcast stream which says “hey, I’m copy protected media, you […]
You did know that your computer isn’t the only place you can have spam shoved in your face, right? TiVo knows this. Show Aunty a device which is connected to a network, and Aunty will show you a device capable of being exploited with pop-ups. TiVo knows this, too. And with that knowledge, TiVo has […]
In a novel use of email campaigns, TiVo has emailed a group of journalists, offering them a special $200 off their new TiVo Humax DVR. Yet TiVo denies that it is trying to drum up journalistic support or – gasp – coverage for its newest TiVo DVR. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, of […]
