Here are the new number of Starbucks reward points (stars) that you need for each Starbucks reward level. Starbucks has just announced that it is raising the number of stars (rewards points) that you need in the Starbucks app in order to be able to redeem your reward stars. They are raising it for absolutely everything except the 25-star reward of customizing your drink.
Everything else has seen the number of star reward points required increase by 50 to 100 points, with some number of required stars doubled. This increase takes effect on February 13th (happy Valentine’s Day from Starbucks, right?), which is just 4 days after the announcement, making Starbucks the Grinch that Stole Valentine’s Day.
The New Number of Starbucks Reward Star Points Needed for Each Item
As we mentioned, the only thing which hasn’t changed is that with 25 stars you can customize your drink (such as use a different type of milk). Here’s the number of stars that used to be required, along with the new number of points required:
- Brewed hot or iced coffee or tea, bakery item, packaged snack and more: used to be 50, now is 100
- Handcrafted drink (Cold Brew, lattes and more) or hot breakfast: used to be 150, now is 200
- Lunch sandwich, protein box or at-home coffee: used to be 200, now is 300
- Select Starbucks merchandise: used to be and still is 400
Also note that based on the email announcement, some of these categories have been changed. The categories listed above are the ones in effect starting February 13th, 2023. Here’s what seems to have changed:
The previous “Handcrafted drink, hot breakfast or parfait” is now “Handcrafted drink or hot breakfast”, seemingly omitting the parfait.
