Using an iPhone with a Windows computer can be frustrating, but Intel has now released a new software tool that can make using these together a little more bearable. The new app, named Intel Unison, allows you to transfer photos and files, send messages, sync notifications on your PC, and make a call or view contacts with your PC. This app is currently only available on Windows 11, and despite Intel’s claims that this only works on Intel Evo platform devices, it does work on most Windows 11 machines.

This brings a new set of features that allows for cross-compatibility between iOS and Windows. While there exist tools, like Phone Link by Windows for Android to Windows, and Apple’s famed Continuity between MacOS and iOS, there were no real tools to facilitate a similar connection between iPhones and Windows. Intel has now released this, based on the previous Dell Mobile Connect from Screenovate, which Intel purchased in 2020.

To get this app, download Intel Unison from the Windows Store and install it on your PC. Following that, download the Intel Unison app on your iPhone from the App Store. Scan the QR code that the PC app shows from the mobile app, and ensure that all permissions are enabled to access all the features. Once the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Direct pairing are successful, you will see a menu of options, with Transfer Files, Manage Photos, Send Messages, Sync Notifications, and Call a Friend on the PC app. You can use any of the tools with your phone, and have a Continuity-like experience with your Windows computer.

With messages, the best part is that the messages will send as proper iMessages, so you can keep the blue bubbles active while messaging from your computer without skipping a beat. The app, however, is not able to show past message history due to Apple’s access restrictions, but will maintain a record of the current session. You can also get all the phone notifications on your PC, so you don’t miss a single notification even while you are working. And gone are the days where you email yourself the photo you want to view or edit. Now, access the entire photo library directly and download them directly, without worrying about compression and sending them through another mail or messaging service. Also, now have all your files ready for the go, with instant file transfer between the two platforms, so you aren’t messing with any cloud services or sifting through your email or messages trying to find that file you sent yourself.

Intel Unison has bridged the gap between iOS and Windows, and ensured that users of both platforms can have a seamless experience.
