An iPhone may not ring for a variety of reasons, the majority of which are simple to address. Before deciding that an expensive repair is necessary for your iPhone, try these suggestions if your phone does not ring when someone calls.
If your iPhone isn’t ringing, there are a few things that could be the problem:
A broken speaker.
Mute is activated.
DND (Do Not Disturb) is activated.
You blocked the phone number calling you.
You silenced all unknown numbers.
An issue exists with a ringtone.
You’re stuck in headphone mode.
In the order that we present them, give these common solutions a shot:
Reboot your iPhone. Restarting a device is the first step in any troubleshooting process. Numerous bugs can be fixed by restarting.
Make the iPhone speaker clean. The speaker at the bottom of your iPhone is what makes every sound, from playing music to watching movies to the ringer from incoming calls. On the off chance that you don’t hear the ringer for approaching calls, the speaker might be grimy or broken.

Play music or a video to test the speaker. Boost the volume. Clean the speaker if you can hear audio but the volume is too low or the sound is distorted.
Deactivate mute. Check to see that you haven’t turned off your iPhone and forgotten to reactivate the ringer.
Deactivate Do Not Disturb. When you don’t want to be bothered, you can use the DND feature to silence notifications, calls, texts, and other sounds. DND can be turned on manually or scheduled, so check both of those options.
Unblock a number that is blocked. You may have blocked that person’s number if they claim to have called you but your iPhone does not show the call. In iOS 7, Apple made it possible to block text messages, FaceTime calls, and voice calls. Follow these steps on your iPhone to unblock a phone number:
Select Phone > Settings > Blocked Contacts.
Click Edit.
Unblock by tapping the red circle next to the blocked number.
Disable Unknown Callers’ Silence. In iOS 13, Apple added a feature that silences all calls from unknown numbers automatically to assist users in avoiding robocalls and spam calls. You won’t receive calls from numbers that aren’t in the Contacts app if this feature is enabled. The iPhone, on the other hand, immediately sends them to voicemail. Select Settings > Phone, then disable the Silence Unknown Callers switch to disable this feature.
Make your own ringtone. Check your ringtone if your iPhone still does not ring when a call comes in. A deleted or corrupted ringtone can prevent the phone from ringing when someone calls if you have unique ringtones set up for your contacts.
To check the default ringtone, tap Settings > Sounds and Haptics > Ringtone, and afterward select a new ringtone.
Open the Phone app and follow these steps if you only miss calls from certain people:
Select Contacts.
Tap Edit after tapping the name of the person whose calls you are missing.
Select a new ringtone for the contact by tapping Ringtone.
Verify that Headphone mode is not stuck on the phone. It’s possible that your iPhone is ringing but not sending the sound where it should. The iPhone attempts to ring there rather than through your iPhone speaker because it believes that another audio source is attached to it, such as headphones or a Bluetooth device.
