The ConsumerWarningsReport360.com Craigslist Scam

Here’s a scam going around Craigslist that is fooling people because it seems so darned believable at first. You reply to a “for sale” or “for free” ad, so far they seem to be for couches and entertainment centers, and the person writes back saying something like ” I already had promised this to the first person who emailed me but she didn’t get back to my email. Are you still interested?” Then when you say you are, they reply saying “the other person replied back again, and it seems her first reply went to my spam folder and I missed it. I feel terrible :(” In fact, they feel so badly that they tell you a way to make $1600 from home, at consumerwarningsreport360[dot]com/. Don’t fall for it!

Here is the first email (in this case in response to a Craigslist ad for a couch):

Im sorry that I didn’t reply earlier, I already had promised this to the first person who emailed me but she didn’t get back to my email. Are you still interested?

I have a meeting at my daughters school tomorrow but then I should be home for the next couple days. Let me know when youll be around.

We then responded suggesting that we were “still interested”, and received this response back:

I’m really, REALLY sorry.. the other person replied back again, and it seems her first reply went to my spam folder and I missed it. I feel terrible :(

You know, I actually wasn’t gonna mention this, but a couple of days ago I got a check in the mail for $1600 from this home income system that i’ve been using. A friend told me about it and I was shocked that it actually worked. Don’t know about you, but secretaries dont earn too much and that extra money really helped me out a lot.

It was really easy, you can go to this website to read more about it:

consumerwarningsreport360[dot]com/?id=25792

Basically you earn income by posting links to various sites like forums and blogs. Its very easy, I usually just do it in the evening while im watching TV.

Just one thing though, please dont let too many people know about it. They only have a couple more spots and I want to make sure some friends can sign up as well. Thanks for understanding, and im sorry again about the misunderstanding.

So that you don’t have to, we went to ConsumerWarningsReport.com for you. Here is the first page that greets you – notice the fake Facebook, Twitter, and other social media and contact links at the top – each one of these, if you hover over it, claims to be linked to consumerwarningreport[dot]com/report.html, but in fact they take you to another “work from home” scam site called OnlineTradeTraining.com:

consumer-warnings-report

Here is the front page of http://www.OnlineTradeTraining.com/ with fake mentions in major news media, such as MSNBC, CNN and USA Today:

Hopefully our article will save folks on the receiving end of this scam some heartache, and some money.

Sorry that I didn’t reply to you before, I had actually offered this to the first person that emailed me but she didn’t get back to me. Are you still interested?

I’ve got an event for work tomorrow but then I should be home for a few days. Let me know if that works.

    Cathy

then i replied stating that i was still interested and got this:

    Hey,

I am really really sorry.. the other person emailed me back again, and it turns out her other message landed in the spam folder and I didnt see it. I feel really terrible..

You know, if it helps any, I’ve been making really good money from this home income program and theyve just opened up 2 more positions in our area. Basically you make money by posting links on the internet, its really simple and I just do it while watching TV.

Here is the link if you wanna check it out:

I’ve made around $500 a week since I’ve been doing it.. not enough to leave my job yet but I finally have some spare money in my bank account lol. My sister is going to sign up later and these positions usually go fast, so I’d appreciate it if you didnt give the link to anyone else.

Thanks and again, really sorry about the whole messup..

    Cathy

the e-mail they used was cathydawson238@yahoo.com

glad i typed in the name of the “company” with the word scam at the end into google and saved myself from any grief from being scammed.

  2. Just got one of these, thank you!

    Nadine Matsubara nadinematsubara@yahoo.com

Sure, thank you for letting me know. It turns out i can’t really buy it right now anyhow… my son just put a HUGE dent in my van and now i have to see how much the damage will be to get it fixed. UGH!

Im so happy he’s ok but of course it has to happen NOW, when i am finally making very good money with this work at home program that i found. You know, if you want, theyve just opened up 3 more positions in our area. Basically you get paid to post links on the internet, it’s very easy and I usually just do it while watching tv.

Here is the link if you wanna check it out:

I’ve made about $600 each week since I’ve been doing it.. not enough to stop working yet but i finally have some spare money in my bank account. Well, probably not after i have to pay the mechanic bill lol. My sister is planning to sign up later and these positions usually go fast, so I’d appreciate it if you didn’t give the link to anyone else. Thanks!

  3. I got the same “my son wrecked my car excuse.” They got me. I feel like the dumbest person in the world right now because they won’t refund my money. So, I went straight to the bank with a copy of their “Terms and Conditions, and Refund Policy” and filed a dispute. The bank is fighting for me now. I hope it goes well.

  4. here is another twist on the same scam; I was hit on from Craigslist in Rochester, NY;

    They replied to an item I have for sale on CL;

    Then I got this back;
Ok, thank you for getting back to me. Actually i cant really get it right now regardless… my son just dented my car and now im gonna need to find out how much its gonna cost me to get it repaired. UGH!

Thank god he’s ok but of course it needed to happen NOW, when i am finally making very good money with this work at home program ive been doing. I’ll be reporting to FTC and Craigslist next.

  5. I’ve gotten two emails nearly identical to #2. Both with a link to consumersdaily360.com (with a unique identifier on the end, such as “?=12345,” which presumably helps the spammer get credit for driving traffic to the website). The link redirects to consumerswarningreport.com. One email was from leonecalica@yahoo.com, the other was from arlenefalco@yahoo.com

  6. These criminals, consumerwarningsreport.com, are also involved a concerted campaign to promote the site by hijacking twitter accounts. See mentions of this on twitter : http://www.google.co.uk/#sclient=psy-ab&hl=en&source=hp&q=site:twitter.com+consumerwarningsreport.com&pbx=1&oq=site:twitter.com+consumerwarningsreport.com&aq=f&aqi=&aql=1&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=4459l4598l2l4878l4l2l0l0l0l1l104l207l0.2l2l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.,cf.osb&fp=1f323f3b79fb6c28&biw=1280&bih=901

Arguably twitter are not doing enough to prevent this: http://www.wacktrap.com/technology/security/security-breaches/twitter-refuses-warn-users-accounts-hijacked-hacked-scam-websi

but there’s NO DOUBT that consumerwarningsreport.com are scumbags. Anyone saying otherwise, and claiming that the money making advice really works ….well it’s probably them! On their site itself you’ll see a whole bunch of fake comments designed to make it look more ligit.

  7. Anyone receiving these spam emails should file a complaint with the FTC and with Yahoo telling Yahoo to investigate. You can also file a complaint with the FTC alleging that Yahoo isn’t keeping up with it’s terms of service by allowing people to violate the can-spam act by not doing anything when you complain. Yahoo has access to these spammers’ accounts and can clearly find out what is going on and prohibit them from using Yahoo services. Companies who receive complaints regarding spam yet do nothing about it are just as liable as the person sending the spam. If everyone would file complaints with the FTC and Yahoo or whatever website regarding the spam we could end it or at least make it very difficult to send spam. You could also respond to spam with a virus…which I usually do……google how to send a virus in an email and set it up for them and destroy their email account. I have several complaints pending with the FTC and as soon as a decision is reached I will start suing these fools and hopefully I can take everything they own.

  8. I just wanted to add to this conversation to report another scammer/spammer by name of Mao Brwon; she sent me this email in response to a Craigs List ad I had just put in for a doll house:

“Saw your add and id like to buy it if still available
let me know when would be convienient to pick up.
    thank you
    Mao”

I replied back that another had expressed a desire to have it, but if that fell through I would let her know. She replied back with this:
K, thank you for replying. Turns out i can not buy it right now regardless… my nephew just put a BIG dent in my car so now im gonna have to see how much money it will cost me to repair it. ugh!

Thank god that he didn’t get hurt but of course it just had to happen NOW, when i’m finally making really good money from this work from home program i started doing. You know, if you’re interested, theyve just opened up 2 more positions in our area. Basically you make money by posting links online, its very easy and I usually just do it while watching TV.

Heres the link if you want to read about it:

Ive earned around $500 each week since I started.. not enough to leave my job yet but i actually have some spare money in my checking account. Well, maybe not after i get the mechanic bill lol. My sister is planning to sign up later and these positions usually go fast, so I’d appreciate it if you dont share the link with anyone else. Thanks!”

Just like one of the other members of this forum reported earlier. I did click on her link, which is really stupid of me, but it did sound like a legit, real person at first. But when I got to the site it looked to good to be true – an we all know what that means. So I did some research and found this is just another routine scam.

So watch out for Mao, whoever that may be.

  9. And the scam continues – when you apply & send your resume for a job! The first email states the position has been filled and asks if you’d like to be considered if another opens up. Not an unusual reply. When you respond, you receive the following:

O.K. great. You know, there may be another option that could work for you until you get a job. I probably shouldn’t mention this, but Ive been earning really good money with this home income program and they just opened up 2 more positions in our area. Basically you make money by posting links on the internet, its really easy and I just do it while watching TV.

I’d also prefer that you didn’t let my boss know about this if you do end up interviewing here :)

I hope this helps you out, and good luck on your job hunt.

  10. same thing from dixieancell@yahoo.com:

OK, thanks for getting back to me. Turns out i can’t really get it now regardless… my cousin just dented my car so now i need to figure out how much money it’ll cost me to repair it. ugh!

  12. Got similar email from teresagill949@yahoo.com for the same opportunity. It is so sad when people try to take advantage of innocent people.

  13. Just ignore them. below is the email I received when I tried to sell on Craigslist.

  14. Got scammed verbatim like it states above from a “Cindy Doyle” email address: cindydoyle221 at yahoo. Very clever the email makes you think it really is a Cindy doesn’t it? I hope karma bites them in the ***.

  16. Sounds too good to be true, then it could be. I want to share the email that I recieved from this person on craigslist.

    First email sent from bessiegriffith621@yahoo.com.

I’m sorry for not getting back to you sooner, I had actually offered this to the first person that emailed me but she didnt reply to me. Are you still interested?

I’ve got an event at my son’s school tomorrow but then Ill be home for the next couple days. Just let me know when youre around.

    Second email sent from bessiegriffith621@yahoo.com.

    Hey,

Im very very sorry…. the first person just replied back, it turned out her first message ended up in the spam mail and I didnt see it. I feel really terrible..

My case, trying to find a wave master for my son, sounds similar to the case I read about the couch. Just wanted to share what was sent to me. Makes you wanna say hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

  17. I did eventually receive my refund but not without another call to ask for it. Still unfortunate to have to lie to get people to sign up. If you have a good program, you don’t need to lie.

  18. This just happened to me. Annoying, but relatively harmless. Though I can see it becoming a big problem if more and more spammers use it because they think it works.

  19. I am usually so very careful about these things and I totally fell for it because it came from a personal person, so I thought they were being helpful. I was in a totally desperate situation and it said you can make money right away. You have to pay to sign up for a program and there is no way to make money right away, they string you along saying try this and do this homework, blah blah blah. I was promised a refund that day, may take a few business days and as of today 8 days later, I still haven’t received it yet.

  20. hey jenna i am thinking about trying it out… but what is the reason for not making 87$ as said on the site..

  21. Hello,

I signed up for this program like 3 weeks ago, and although I haven’t been making $87 an hour like it said I would….I’ve been pretty pleased with the results.

I made around $260 last month, and I am hoping I can break $300 this month.

I’m not sure if the author of this article tried this website out, but it’s definitely not a scam. On the other hand, I am definitely not making $87 an hour either. I wish…
