Add blood_love2@aol.com as the newest scammer spamming mailing lists. As we mentioned last week, scammers have started signing up for mailing lists in order to spam the list members with their scams. (Our samples come from Aweber mailing lists.) Last week it was supposedly David Norris, leasing his house in Troy, Michigan, with a contact number of (509) 255-3270. This week it’s the supposed Rev. Gary Williams, with a house in Warwick, New York, with a contact number of (502) 536-8106.

In part the scammers are doing this as a twist on social engineering. If you are on a mailing list, you are more likely to trust someone who is on that list with you, and also more likely to read their email.
In the following case, the scammer, using the email address blood_love2@aol.com, signed up for a mailing list, and then replied to two different messages to the mailing list, sending the same scam twice.
Remember, folks, if it is out of the blue, and especially if it seems too good to be true, it’s not for you.

I knew that this may be too good to be true!! $650 a month for a home that may not even be his! I’m glad I checked with Google to find out about the phone number that was sent to my email about Gary Williams. He and I have been emailing about a home for $650/month and to find out it may be a scam
