SnapChat has just unveiled SnapChat Spectacles – sunglasses which have an embedded video camera so that you can record video Snaps from a truly first-person perspective. To enhance the perspective, the video is shot in a circular frame rather than a more traditional rectangular frame. SnapChat has also rebranded itself to just Snap Inc..

Snapchat is being sued for curating sexually explicit material and making it available to minors. The class action lawsuit against Snapchat is over the Snapchat ‘Discover’ service. Snapchat Discover curates content from “top publishers”, such as Vice, Cosmo, Buzzfeed, CNN, and People. It’s the first, Vice, among others, which has lead to this lawsuit, as Vice contains content that is clearly R (some would say X) rated, and so not suitable for children (Snapchat rates itself as being for age 13 and up).

More than 4 Million SnapChat phone numbers, locations, and passwords have been stolen and leaked and made public. The database was put up on a site, SnapChatDB.info, where anybody could download the file. And while the site has been taken down, people who grabbed that file are already putting it to use.
