Ever wondered how many emails you have sent from Gmail or received at or through Gmail? Curious about what percentage of the time you are online with your laptop versus your phone or tablet? Or with whom you most communicate through Google or Gmail? Perhaps more importantly, how about monitoring from what geographic locations your Google account has been accessed? Or maybe you are just curious about how much Google is keeping tabs on you. Now all of this, and more, is possible, with the new Google Account Activity Reports.
Here’s how Google explains it:
Google Account Activity Reports give you a monthly summary of your account activity across many Google products.
With Account Activity Reports you can learn what’s going on in your account, e.g. how many emails you have sent and received, how often you have searched on Google, from which countries you have logged in and how often your YouTube videos have been viewed.
Every month the Account Activity Report will collect and summarize data across your Google account – e.g. sent emails or top searches. Data deletion at the data source, e.g. in your Web History will have no impact on issued reports, however reports can be deleted at any time.
After signing in (which Google calls “opting in”), Google sends you an email letting you know that your first report is ready:
You just click on the link, and voila, there is your Google Account Activity Report:
You can also have Google email you each time a new activity report os generated, or you can just log in and check new reports.
