The Osofia 419 scammers song, “I Go Chop Your Dollars”, advises 419 targets that “I will eat your dollars”. That, along with the fact that they have their own “theme song” at all, should clue you in to just how serious and entrenched an enterprise 419 scamming is. Recently an LA Times reporter actually sat in some Nigerian cybercafes and interviewed the scammers who were sitting there sending out their 419 scams. There were a few things which were particularly interesting to me. The image of a cybercafe full of 20-30somethings, all earnestly and quietly working away at their computers, like the scene at many Starbucks or university coffee shops. Only the diligent aren’t working on sales reports or homework. They are working on stealing your money. It was also interesting to learn that they even have their own theme song “I Go Chop Your Dollars” written by Osofia, which goes like this: “419 is just a game, you are the losers, we are the winners. White people are greedy, I can say they are greedy White men, I will eat your dollars, will take your money and disappear. 419 is just a game, we are the masters, you are the losers.” But the thing which was most interesting were what these scam artists had to say about you. “Nobody feels sorry for the victims. [The scammers] have the belief that white men are stupid and greedy. They say the American guy has a good life. There’s this belief that for every dollar they lose, the American government will pay them back in some way.” So, just in case you weren’t sure about the seriousness of 419 scams…just in case you think that it’s just a few people, and they are going to go away, think again. These scammers are here to stay, they are serious, and their target is…you.

What would it take to discontinue internet service between Nigeria and the rest of the world? Or to just block all packets from Nigeria entering the US?

I don’t know if this is related but I keep getting e-mail claiming to be trying to find the next of kin to someone they knew that had past away and has money in a bank in Nigeria that they want to split with me. Is this the same?

It is their classic method to rip you off. Whenever a perpetrator claims that he/she is related to a government official or royal family and willing to share a few millions withy you, you have to ask yourself, “why me?.” Don’t ever get fooled, but believe me it happened a lot even in Malaysia. I get those scams by emails and even by regular mails once in a while.

Hey, I got here by googling “419″ “nigerian scam” and stuff like that.
I live in Europle, within the EU, I got a Nigerian scam e-mail and I answered to it saying I was intrested and I’m going to play dumb just for fun.
Of course there’s no way I’m going to Nigeria to get robbed or killed or both, but it would be nice if I actually could get those bastards busted.
anyone can halp me with that? How do I get them busted?
I mean not like just sending the e-mail adress I got the spam from to the provider’s “abuse” address and not like just e-mailing or calling the police and report about that; I’m thinking about really making them think they have something and scr€w them insted of getting scr€w’d
(sounds like fun huh?)
so who’s in?
I’m going to need help about what to write in my e-mails to keep them on the hook, and some ideas about how to get them busted when the fun is over.

I agree the so-called “victims” are stupid, greedy and dishonest. Worse they are sick enough to want to profit from the corruption that keeps Africa and its children poor, sick and hungry.
Are we to feel sorry for the sickos caught by police internet scammers pretending to be selling images of children being abused?

Hi,
I am here to in form you that once you let a scammer in your life, they will not leave you alone. I know because I am a victim of fraud but I am not mad because I learned a valuable lesson. Do not get a loan on line, answer unknown emails, or answer unknown phone calls. Some people pose as banks and even have logos to make innocent people beleive they are real. I have placed a fraud alert on everything, have put a security freeze on all of my credit reports, and even filed a police report but the only thing is if these people want you to send money to another country you can not get your money back and I do not think the police can do anything unless the scammers come to the United States or the scam is in the United States. Please Do not give out any personal inforamtion (like a social security card or a drivers license). If some one calls your house asking for personal information, either tell them you will not give out that inforamtion or tell them you do not have a credit card, a bank account, or a savings account. Online banking is also risky because they can hack into your account and get your information. never buy anything online because this also can be a risk. Some of these so called scammers are dangerous, they will try to kill you if you are not carefull.

to the possible 419 s posting on this site:
Yes we stole from you long ago, but since then its your own corruption keeping you poor! Because what we given back, is stolen by your own government and others already having enough. It never reaches the common man. And stealing is not a job!
