Camera Phone Thief Danny Aquino Busts Self - Sends Camera Phone Pics to Owner   - 4,387 Views, 1 Comment

Summary: Danny Aquino acquired John Clennan's camera phone illegally - then used the phone to take pictures of himself, which were stored, along with Aquino's email address, in Clennan's account. Oops. Where Clennan found them. Double oops.

Camera phones sure seem to bring out the stupid in people. Be it owner or phone thief, there’s something about that little lens that makes people go soft in the head. Take Danny Aquino for instance.

John Clennan, posting as JohnsGoat on a local Long Island Internet bulletin board (BBS), wrote yesterday that “My cell phone got stolen some time last week…. i just noticed it missing the other day and called up and had it turned off….”

Nothing particularly unusual about that, other than perhaps that he didn’t notice it was missing for several days.

But what he wrote next has caused quite a ripple in the Internet community:

“well im sitting around today tooling around on the computer and decided to go on my picture mail and see if pics have been sent…. whenever u send a pic to an email address it automatically saves a copy on my sprint website and records the email address….. so guess what i find…. ”

No, it wasn’t his shift key. But it was pictures of the thief or, at least, the person who now has possession of his cell phone. And oh what pictures they were! I saw the original site, and there were lots of goodies - a young man flexing and strutting his stuff for, and with, his young lady. Lots of kissing, and more. Which Clennan promptly posted on the BBS, along with the fellow’s name, Danny Aquino

Interestingly, the pictures are now gone, and I can only surmise that it is because the suspect, only 16 years old, is a minor.

After having Sprint shut off the phone service, Clennan sent an email to Danny Aquino, whose email address appeared in the messages he’d sent using Clennan’s phone. Clennan wrote:

“Like to steal cell phones and use them to take pics of yourself and make videos…. HA! guess what pal… i have every pic you took and the videos…. I will be plastering the town with pics of your face, that %!$#*& face and the childs face…. wow thieves really are dumb…. good day pal

oh yeah by the way…. the phone is now just a paperweight and can never be used again…”

Amazingly, or perhaps not, Aquino wrote back, cocky as you please, and telling Clennan rather graphically what he was going to do to a female friend of Clennan’s, whose text messages he had intercepted.

Perhaps Danny hadn’t realized just exactly how traceable he’d made himself by not resisting the urge to take pictures of himself, oh, and speaking of urges, also videos with the phone of him ..scratching other urges, if you know what I mean.

As I said, camera phones sure bring out the stupid in people.

Obviously Mr. Aquino hadn’t read Aunty’s earlier article, in which I explained that among the several rules of thievery and cell phones, rule #1 is f you are going to commit a felony, don’t take a picture of yourself with the evidence. Because, of course, this isn’t the first time it’s been done (and, I’m willing to bet, nor will it be the last). And for goodness sake, don’t take videos of yourself, with a camera phone, during an intimate act! It could, after all, end up like the other home blue camera phone movie which ended up on an auction site.
