T-Mobile has announced the debut of their unlimited wifi phone (think VOIP) service, called “Hotspot @Home”. For only $20.00 per month, you can make unlimited Hotspot@Home calls from, well, your Hotspot at home, as well as from any Tmobile Hotspot location. T-Mobile is also selling two new handsets designed to work seamlessly with the service through their The Only Phone You Need website.

Wibree – New Wireless Technology from Nokia. Because You Can Never Have Too Many Types of Wireless

Nokia has launched a new wireless protocol called “Wibree”. Wibree is similar to Bluetooth in that it allows wireless communication (not “wifi”, which specifically refers to wireless internet communications) between two devices. However unlike Bluetooth, Wibree is designed for and aimed at smaller applications which require low power, such as watches, and chips in sports monitors such as pedometers. In fact, despite a lot of media coverage comparing Wibree to Bluetooth, Wibree is not only not intended to replace or compete with Bluetooth, Wibree is intended as an adjunct to Bluetooth.
