Taking a page from the Facebook playbook, Twitter has just changed your Twitter news feed timeline to show you the “best tweets” first, instead of showing tweets in the chronological order (technically reverse chronological order) that they are posted.

Facebook has just announced, and started to roll out, their new See First setting, which gives you control over who gets priority in your Facebook news feed timeline. While the announcements today say that it is being rolled out to iOS today, and Android and the web later, some folks, including us, have it on the web right now (and yes, we rubbed our hands with glee when we discovered that).

It’s the Internet-age old conundrum: How can you tell if something in your Facebook news feed is a hoax or scam? This week Facebook announced that they will start tagging hoaxes for you in your newsfeed. Actually, they will start letting you know when other users have identified and tagged something as a hoax.

Facebook has found yet another way to monetize their product users. Their Promoted Posts feature, coming to the U.S. allows users to butt their way to the front of the line, gaining posts that they feel are important more visibility in their friends’ news feeds, for a $7 per post fee.

With recent changes to Facebook, it turns out that Facebook is now choosing which friends’ news feeds to show you in the live feed view, and, essentially, blocking all the rest!
