Now how many times have we said that war-driving is in poor taste?
Apparently the Feds think so too, as they have whacked Nicholas Tombros for war-driving through Venice, California, where they allege that he sent oodles of pornography spam from his laptop through “unencrypted wireless Internet access points”.
Tombros is facing up to three years as a guest of the Feds. And has the dubious distinction of being the first convicted war spammer in U.S. history. The Feds explain that war spammers “are a pernicious combination of war drivers and spammers.”
According to the FBI, “On September 27 (2004), Tombros pled guilty to sending spam by the thousands while war driving through the neighborhoods of Marina Del Rey last year. And not just any spam, either. Spam that advertised pornographic web sites.”
Now, what do we do about all those yobbos who are running unsecure WAPS?
The Internet Patrol is completely free, and we don't subject you to ads or annoying video pop-ups. But it does cost us out of our pocket to keep the site going (going on 20 years now!) So your tips via CashApp, Venmo, or Paypal are VERY appreciated! Receipts will come from ISIPP.
