Wow, this is an incredible day for us here at the Internet Patrol. Our own Anne P. Mitchell has been featured as an inspirational luminary on the fabulous new website, InspireMeToday.com.

(Note: Registration is free!)

Inspire Me Today was founded by Gail Goodwin, following an inspirational (for all involved!) trip that she took with her daughter, award-winning songstress Carly Goodwin. Carly recorded her hit single “Baby Come Back Home”, which was, in essence, a love letter to all of the people serving over in the Gulf, and the response to that song – which was overwhelming – resulted in Gail and Carly travelling all over the world, including visits to Iraq, where Carly performed her song for soldiers in the field.

During one of the trips to Iraq, as Gail tells it, a soldier came up to Gail and asked if he could just please have a hug – it was his birthday, he said, and he was thousands of miles from home, and alone. This simple request touched Gail’s heart. But before Gail could give the soldier a hug, he warned her that he had just spent days on end alone, guarding an outpost, and so didn’t smell the best. Astonished, Gail asked how he kept from going crazy, being on his own – completely alone – in the middle of nowhere for days on end?

The soldier pulled his iPod out of his pocket, and said that he loaded his iPod up with music and podcasts before going out to the field.

And that’s when inspiration hit Gail Goodwin – and her inspiration was that she could offer inspiration to all of these men and women out in the field by creating a site where they could download inspirational podcasts to listen to while out in the field. And it wouldn’t just be limited to soldiers – although all people on active duty, connecting to the InspireMeToday.com website from a .mil address automatically get a free pass.

But it would be a place where anyone could go to get inspired, on a daily basis. With podcasts, videos, and personal stories of inspiration – a new one every day!

And so InspireMeToday.com was born!
