It seems that meeting women on Craigslist is a lot like Lays Potato Chips – betcha can’t meet just one. Meeting women for casual sex on Craigslist is so easy – so addicting – that it seems to cause all reason and logic (not to mention fidelity, honor and decency) to fly out of men’s heads. In fact, we fully expect to see Craiglist Rehab Clinics dotting the nation within the next few years. The most recent public downfall related to Craigslist cheating through Craigslist personals is that of New York Republican Representative Christopher Lee, who resigned this week after it was reported that the married Lee was trying to meet women through Craigslist.
It seems that the very-married Lee had sent a shirtless picture of himself to a woman who had advertised on Craigslist in the “Women seeking men” section. The woman said that he described himself as a “divorced lobbyist,” but she later became suspicious that he was not telling the truth.
Responding to her email, which implored readers to prove to her that not all Craigslist men “looked like toads”, Lee responded “Hope I’m not a toad. :) i’m a very fit fun classy guy. Live in Cap Hill area. 6ft 190lbs blond/blue. 39.. Lobbyist. I promise not to disappoint.”
He included this picture of himself:

When the woman asked Lee when his last date was, he responded “last Monday.. She was not as advertised”
She then asked: “Are you divorced?”
To which Lee replied “Yes.”
Said Lee in a statement yesterday, “I regret the harm that my actions have caused my family, my staff and my constituents. I deeply and sincerely apologize to them all. I have made profound mistakes and I promise to work as hard as I can to seek their forgiveness.”
It still eludes us as to why men – married men – do this in such great numbers. (Unfortunately, at least anecdotally, it seems to most often be married men who are doing the Craigslist ChaCha – although we certainly don’t doubt that women do it too.) Within our own social circle we are aware of four marriages that have been rent asunder in as many months by unfaithful husbands turning to Craigslist dalliances – both paid and unpaid.
What’s going on, guys?
