Welcome back to Making Your iPhone Work For You! A series, hosted by The Internet Patrol, on mastering the many, many elements of iPhone.

Your iPhone is filled with useful capabilities that, when configured correctly, can transform it into a personalised tech-wand. You don’t need to be an expert to make the most out of your device; Apple’s apps and features are designed with the user in mind instead of computer-savvy gurus from Silicon Valley. To get started, set up and customise it so that it works for you and fits into your lifestyle.

What are iPhone Shortcuts

If you’re new to iPhone shortcuts, here’s a beginner’s guide to help you get started. Setting up shortcuts on your iPhone can save you time and make your life easier. Here are some tips and tricks to get you started:

1. Choose the right shortcut for you. There are tons of different shortcuts available, so it’s a good idea to take some time to explore and find the ones that will be most useful for you. Theres no limit to the number of shortcuts you can add, but if you add a lot of unnecessary shortcuts, you may confuse yourself, Siri, even your iPhone! Either that or you may be unable to find the right shortcut when you need it (which kinda defeats the point of a shortcut, no?)

2. Give each shortcut an obvious name. This will help you remember what each shortcut does and make it easier to find when you need it. Most shortcuts can be ran by asking Siri. So whatever you name it will also be the voice command to trigger it.

3. Add shortcuts to your home screen for quick access. This way, you can invoke them with just a taps instead of having to search for them in the Shortcuts app each time. To add a shortcut to your home screen, you’ll go to the Share menu and you should see an option labled “Add to Home Screen” in the list of options.

4. Use Siri to run shortcuts for hands-free control of your iPhone. With Siri, you can invoke any shortcut using just your voice. This is especially handy when driving or doing other tasks where using your hands is not possible or convenient.

5. Shortcuts can also be automated. This means that they can be triggered by events like a certain time of day, location, or motion. This allows you to automate your routine and customize your device to work exactly how you want them to.

6. Shortcuts can be shared with other people using AirDrop or through the Shortcuts app. This makes it easy to share your favorite shortcuts with others but you may need to adjust your settings before your iPhone will run unrecognize shortcuts from someone else just as a safety measure!

7. The Shortcuts app is constantly being updated with new features and improvements. Make sure to keep your app up to date to take advantage of the latest and greatest features.
