In our last article, we showed you how to change your keyboard positioning on your iPhone. This trick is super handy for those of us that seem like we’re constantly juggling.

In this article, we’re going to cover a few more texting tricks to up-skill your text sending to stealth mode.

Jumping off from our last post on the keyboard, did you know that there is a secret to making quick edits to your unsent texts? How many times do you have to tap your screen when you realize you misspelled something two sentences ago. You don’t want to delete all your fine work, but you can’t seem to get your cursor in the right spot? So you just keep tapping on the misspelled word until finally, you land right behind the unwanted character. (Or maybe, you’re smart and choose to delete the entire misspelled words as to not waste time with the cursed cursor.) Either way, this tip can help you with that.

While using the keyboard on your iPhone, if you want to move the cursor to a different place in order to make a change to something you’ve just typed: instead of tapping the screen, all you have to do is press and hold down the spacebar. When you see all the keys fade to gray (don’t release just yet!) you’ll be able to move the cursor wherever you want by dragging your thumb around the screen. When you’re ready, release the spacebar to drop the cursor and make any changes you need. Don’t forget, you have to maintain your hold on the spacebar until you’ve repositioned the cursor to the desired location, then you can lift your hold.

While playing with the feature, if find you’re the the type of person that likes keeping in constant contact with the screen, then this next tip is for you.

Many keyboards available for iPhones have had the ability to allow users to type words by continually dragging their finger (or thumb) around the keyboard without lifting it up at all. As of iOS 13, this feature is also available on all Apple keyboards. When released, it was named “QuickPath” but now because of its default status on every keyboard, this feature can be toggled on or off in the Keyboard Settings page. This setting is now referred to as “Slide-to-type”.

If you read our last article, you should have picked up an easy way to access the keyboard settings menu. Just hold down the circular icon in the bottom left hand corner of your screen. (This icon could be THE globe icon or the emoji icon depending on what you have set up on your iPhone.) In the menu that pops up, the top option is “Keyboard Settings”, just slide your digit over it to open.
