Now that the Impact Team hackers put the data of all 37 million Ashley Madison users online, you may be wondering how to check to see whether your email address is exposed in that data dump.
As we explain in our article about the full user list being exposed, it’s really important to keep in mind that just because an email address appears in Ashley Madison data, that does not, in and of itself, necessarily mean that the person associated with that email address actually opened an account on Ashley Madison. This is because Ashley Madison is just the type of site which leads people to use an email address that is not theirs, because they don’t want to risk it being discovered that they are playing around on their spouse.
