People hooking up online, and even through Facebook, is fairly common these days. But women wanting children hooking up with a sperm donor – and for free – on Facebook? Not so much. But that is exactly the service that Kenzie Kilpatrick is providing.

Under a headline emblazoned across the UK’s Daily Mail reading “Why I fathered 10 children for strangers, by gay Facebook sperm donor: Carer says he donated because he wanted to do something to help others”, Kilpatrick explains that, having grown up without his own father, and being raised by his single mother, he feels that the babies that his donated sperm has helped to bring into this world won’t necessarily be disadvantaged by their own biological father not being in their lives (most of the recipients of his donated sperm have been lesbians wanting to conceive).

Now, this too is not that uncommon a scenario, or sentiment.

But, Facebook?

Kilpatrick, who is himself gay, started a Facebook group last year, Drama Free UK Sperm Donors. (It is a hidden group, so if you want in, you’ll need to contact Kilpatrick himself.) And so far it seems to be successful, if you judge success by customers served.

Well, we really shouldn’t say “customers”, as Kilpatrick doesn’t charge for his, um, product. He only asks that if travel or accommodations are necessary, that the recipients cover his expenses.

“To know I’ve helped people who have suffered for so long, desperately wanting to have a baby, has been my biggest motivator,” said Kilpatrick, in an interview quoted in the Birmingham Mail.
