Yes, it’s true – today, August 1, 2014 – Facebook is down. No word yet from Facebook on whether Facebook was hacked, or someone tripped over a power cord, or just what the problem is. Within moments, it was all over Twitter, and apparently around the world, as people in all language started posting that Facebook was down, Facebook es mort, etc.. UPDATE: At 9:30am PST / 12:30pm EST Facebook came back up. No word yet on what the problem was.
It started with Facebook hanging when trying to load a page, and then fairly quickly turned into this:
