If you are trying to reach Facebook right now, and all you are getting is a blank white page, or a page with just a little code, you’re not alone. In fact, it’s country-wide, if not world-wide. People around the globe are asking “Is Facebook Down?” “Was Facebook hacked?” “Is it the Wikileaks hackers?” “Was Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg getting named Time “Man of the Year” too much for some extremist faction and they are retaliating?”

No, to all of these things.

Apparently, Facebook was brought down by their own internal actions, while rolling out new “features” (and with Facebook we use the term ‘features’ advisedly, as usually that means “new ways to invade your privacy and make money off our users’ data.”)

These features include newly redesigned Pages specifically for brands and the new ‘Memories’ photo section.

While as of the time of this writing, Facebook is back up for us, it may or may not be for you. And so, we offer this list of things that you can do with your time instead of being on Facebook, at least until you can satisfy your Facebook addiction:

1. Play with your dog.

2. Play with your cat.

3. Play with your kids.

4. Walk over to the next cubicle and say ‘Hi’ to your colleague in person instead of posting “Hey, lunch?” on their Facebook wall.

5. Start a Scrabble game – in person.

6. Go volunteer at a real farm animal rescue organization or humane society.

7. Send out real paper and ink Christmas cards.

8. Step outside and take a deep breath – feel that? It’s called fresh air, and it won’t hurt you, we promise.

9. Go to the water cooler and gossip in person.

10. Walk up to someone and poke them in person. Then, run.
