Last Friday, if you were on eBay and quick, you could have bid on what was claimed to be blood and brain samples from none other than Il Duce – Benito Mussolini himself. The blood and brain tissue was posted for sale by an as yet undisclosed source, although Mussolini’s grandaughter, Alessandra Mussolini, has suggested that the blood and brain samples could have been lifted during the autopsy performed in 1945 on Mussolini at the Policlinico hospital in Milan.

The blood and brain matter, in three glass vials, were listed at a starting bid of 15,000 Euros (about $22,450), although the auction was pulled by eBay before anybody was able to place a bid.

It is a violation of eBay policy to sell “human organic material” on eBay.

Somewhat ironically, Ms Mussolini, who is a former model, a founder of the national conservative party in Italy, and a current member of Italian parliament, was as a seminar on Internet crime when she learned of the eBay listing.

Said Ms. Mussolini, “I was advised this morning that pieces of my grandfather’s brain and some of his blood were being sold on eBay for 15,000 euros. This is very serious, these are the kinds of things we have to guard against.”
