“It’s just digusting – he stays glued to the screen, with those awful radio stations, doing things that would get him arrested in real life – right in front of me!” complained one woman.

“Why do they create this trash? Will the judge understand when I explain that my home was wrecked by a computer game?” lamented another.

Grand Theft Auto IV has only been out for a few days, but it has engendered by far the greatest outcry of all of the GTA games – even more than Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, with its infamous “Hot Coffee Mod”. The Hot Coffee Mod was a third party modification which would unlock secret sex scenes which were otherwise locked in the game.

But in Grand Theft Auto IV there is no secret about the objectional activities available – you can get drunk and get behind the wheel, you can engage the services of a hooker, and you can kill the hooker with your car.

For some reason, some women find it objectionable when their mates do these sorts of things, even if it’s onscreen (so, by the way, does Mothers Against Drunk Driving, who are the first organization – although undoubtedly not the last – to level formal complaints against the game).

So how about it gals – let’s hear your story – are you a Grand Theft Auto widow?
