Wishing you had an app to save money? Well, it’s not magic, or advanced technology, but budgeting sure can help you!
Almost everyone is trying to save money by budgeting better, especially during these tough economical times. And make no mistake about it: budgeting? Like all other things, there’s an app for it.
Technology, in reality, makes it both much easier, and much harder to keep your books straight, and buyer’s remorse low.
Mint
Mint is a highly popular budgeting app due to its friendly user interface for budgeters of all levels. This free app allows you to set up bill payment reminders, check your credit score from TransUnion, and track your investments.
Mint also syncs with your financial accounts to help track your spending habits.
The Internet Patrol is completely free, and we don't subject you to ads or annoying video pop-ups. But it does cost us out of our pocket to keep the site going (going on 20 years now!) So your tips via CashApp, Venmo, or Paypal are VERY appreciated! Receipts will come from ISIPP.
It also automatically categorizes your recurring expenditure, allowing you to sort everything and determine what needs to go.
You Need a Budget (YNAB)
Enthusiasts of the app “You Need a Budget” fondly refer to it as “YNAB“. The app takes a very unique approach compared to other budgeting apps.
Rather than using conventional budgeting strategies, this app works with your income, by assigning every dollar you get to your budget.
That means that every penny is accounted for and you can know where your money is going.
YNAB has a mobile and desktop version which makes it possible to sync your accounts across different devices.
PocketGuard
PocketGuard takes a very straightforward approach to budget by telling you how much money is available for spending.
It’s users get to know how much money is left in their pockets after paying bills, saving contributions and necessities.
PocketGuard also shows you which expenses take most of your money and customize the reports with categories and hashtags.
Simplifi
Simplifi comes with a personalized spending plan and real-time updates showing you how much money is available for you to spend.
The app syncs with your bank accounts to give you a realistic picture of your financial situation, and to help your financial goals.
It also tracks your recurrent expenditure, and shows your active and inactive subscriptions.
Goodbudget (formerly EEBA)
Goodbudget has an Android, web, and iPhone version. It works by creating digital envelopes for bills; such as groceries or energy bills. It also assigns money to each category.
Unlike other apps, it does not sync with your bank account, so you have to enter every transaction you perform manually.
While some users consider this as a downside, others see it as an advantage as manual tracking makes you more mindful of your spending.
Now, you no longer have an excuse about overshooting your budget, as these apps will (hopefully) help you to keep to your limits!
