The YouTube video website has been blocked from all of Thailand after a video appeared on the YouTube site which, the country’s government claims, insults the Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

According to Thailand’s Minister of Information and Technology, Sitthichai Pookaiyaudom, Thailand requested that YouTube remove the video, which shows photographs of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, along with pictures of feet, images that are considered insulting to the king.

When YouTube failed to honour Thailand’s request, the country took the step of forbidding access to YouTube from within the country of Thailand.

Said Minister Sitthichai Pookaiyaudom, “People who create these are abusing their rights and clearly don’t mean well for the country,” adding that “We have closed many and will continue to.”

“We are disappointed that YouTube has been blocked in Thailand, and we are currently looking into the matter,” said a spokesperson for YouTube.

  1. Apparently, the (yellow shirt) government has budgeted over 30 million baht on an internet war room so they can decide what Thai people should see!! Thailand needs to come out of the dark ages.

  2. can u plz block this vid. Idiot thai king. it makes fun of him and swears at him plz search youtube properly

  3. They should realize that blocking the site would lead to publicity, that in turn would lead to more people seeing the video they don’t want anyone to see.
