Online security company MessageLabs is warning people that there has been a sudden sharp rise in Trojans assailing user inboxes, worldwide.

In just one morning this week, MessageLabs says that they blocked 54,000 copies of new Downloader Trojans. The Download Trojans include Trojan horse programs Downloader.ABC and Downloader.XZ.

The Trojan horse programs are being spammed around the ‘net in spam which purports to be, oh irony of ironies, a spam report.

According to MessageLabs, the primary text of the spam being used to convey the Trojan programs says:

“Your e-mail account was used to send a huge amount of unsolicited spam messages during the recent week. If you could please take 5-10 minutes out of your online experience and confirm the attached document so you will not run into any future problems with the online service.

If you choose to ignore our request, you leave us no choice but to cancel your membership.

Virtually yours,

Network Administrator Team”
