Pretty soon you will be able to use a standard cordless house phone with Vonage in your home! Vonage has entered a partnership with Uniden to adapt one of Uniden’s cordless phones, the UIP1869V, to plug directly into an Internet connection, to take advantage of VOIP services without requiring an additional telephone-VoIP adapter.

According to telecommunications industry analyst Jeff Kagan, “To get a phone that plugs into broadband and works is useful. It helps to make VoIP more mainstream. This is the kind of device that helps make VoIP useable for the average consumer.”

Amen, brother.

With the ability to add up to 10 handsets to the base of the UIP1869V, this move has the potential to really help push VoIP generally, and Vonage in particular, into the mainstream.
