Self Professed Pedophile Jack McClellan’s Seattle Tacoma Everett Girl Love Stegle.org Website Declared Legal but Knocked Offline by Internet Ire   8/1/2007 - 8,005 views, 10 Comments

Because McClellan has always operated his website on just this side of the law, authorities were helpless to shut it down (and indeed differ in their opinion as to whether it should be shut down).

No matter the debate, however, because now the wrath of the Internet has brought the stegl.org website down instead, as a mounting vigilante campaign has caused the Seattle Tacoma Everett Girl Love site to be shut down by McClellan’s service provider (however we have a link below so that you can see it in all its dis-glory).

The primary site which is at the center of the move against McClellan, which has since branched out to include other pedophile sites, is the site at JackMcClellan.com, run by Ron Tebo. Says Tebo, of himself:

“Ron Tebo, a professional web master, a victim of child abuse at the age of 6 and family man with twin boys. After seeing Jack’s interview with Fox News (and after vomiting) I had concluded that Jack is foul, smutty and abominable.

LOL! Now this is some funny dealings, I took his real name and I have created (obviously) a web site to back-bite Jack. In addition, if you Google Jack McClellan you will NOT be brought to his disgusting web site because I have stolen his traffic. He! He!

Jack will NEVER get this name for his personal use and he will NOT use this name to exploit children! Jack will need to extract the name from my cold dead hands…and I will still jump up and pop him one…okay more than one.”

Of course, Internet lawsuits abound to prove Tebo wrong on that “misappropriating someone else’s name for commercial purposes”, but would McClellan have the chutzpah to sue him for that?

In any event, as a direct result of Tebo’s site, and the attention it has received, McClellan’s own site is now offline.

You can, however, see how it looked about a year ago here (these were the most current caches we could find, although the site was online as recently as last month).

But first, let’s talk for a moment about the ethics of our allowing you to see a site which has been banished from the Internet by popular demand.

Here’s our take on it. Right now, there is a call to arms against Jack McClellan and his site - there is a call for the world to get all riled up against him - and against what he has done - sight unseen. While what it is alleged he has done is indeed disgusting - there was no way to confirm it! When we were investigating this story, we found dozens of websites and blogs and news sites whipping the public into a frenzy over what McClellan had done - but nowhere could we find the actual evidence - recent events had so successfully obliterated his material from the web that we were being asked to take on faith, and tar and feather someone, based only on someone else’s say-so. The only thing that separates this from a witch hunt, we believe, is knowing that the person actually did what they are being accused of. And we all know that statements made by the accused to the press aren’t even proof. Lots of publicity-loving accused will confess to all sorts of things they never did.

No, the only way to know that he actually created and ran the site that was causing all this condemnation - and to know that the site really deserved this condemnation - was to see the site. Our First Amendment not only guarantees freedom of the press for the publisher, but it also guarantees it for the public. Indeed, a primary function of freedom of the press is to ensure that the citizenry - the public - can have access to information and be informed - to make up their own mind. That is what, in theory, keeps the United States and similar countries from having a press where everything is spoonfed to the citizenry through a government controlled press, such as in China, reading only what the government says is approved.
