Summary: Black Worm Day is fast upon us. This Friday, February 3rd, is being called "BlackWorm Day" because that is when the Mywife worm or Kama Sutra worm, also known as Blackmal.E, Nyxem.E, Email-Worm.Win32.VB.bi, W32.Blackmal.E@mm worm, or W32/Nyxem-D, and now being dubbed just "The Black Worm", is set to delete files on at least a half-million PCs.

As we warned you earlier, this coming Friday, February 3rd, is Black Worm Day, when the Mywife worm or Kama Sutra worm, also known as Blackmal.E, Nyxem.E, Email-Worm.Win32.VB.bi, W32.Blackmal.E@mm worm, or W32/Nyxem-D, and now being dubbed just “The Black Worm”, is set to delete files on at least a half-million PCs.

The worm is set to target most common types of data files, including Word files, PDFs, Excel files, and PowerPoint files, to name a few.

Some also believe that this worm is set to go off on the third day of every month.

Warns Microsoft, “As with all currently known variants of the Mywife malware, this variant does not make use of a security vulnerability, but is dependant on the user opening an infected file attachment. The malware also attempts to scan the network looking for systems it can connect to and infect. Customers who believe that they are infected with the Mywife malware, or who are not sure whether they are infected, should contact their antivirus vendor.”

Good advice indeed.

So make sure that your antivirus software is not only up-to-date, but includes definitions for the Black Worm. Again, it is also known as the Kama Sutra worm, the Mywife worm, and Blackmal.E, Nyxem.E, Email-Worm.Win32.VB.bi, W32.Blackmal.E@mm worm, or W32/Nyxem-D.

If you don’t, well, come Friday you can’t say that you weren’t warned.
