As many are now aware, a woman who was kidnapped as a child 18 years ago was found alive at the home of her captor, Phillip Craig Garrido, in Antioch, California (near Berkeley) this week; this morning it was confirmed that she is Jaycee Lee Dugard who, at the age of 11, was kidnapped back in 1991. Phil Garrido, who had kept Jaycee Dugard, and the two children whom he fathered with her, captive in his back yard all this time, (and who also used the alias Phillip Craig Knight) kept a blog. And oh what a blog it is.

After eighteen years, many people had assumed that the worst had happened to 11 year-old Jaycee Lee Dugard. She had been abducted by two strangers - dragged into their van - before her own step-father’s incredulous eyes. It turns out that one of those two strangers was Phillip Garrido, a registered sex offender who had been convicted of a 1971 kidnapping and rape.

But, in fact, Garrido and his wife had kept Jaycee locked away for all of the past 18 years in their back yard in California, shut away in a byzantine world consisting of a labyrinthian series of tents and sheds, from which she had not once been allowed to emerge.

Garrido also fathered two children with Dugard - who was going by the name “Allissa” - the girls are 11 and 15 years old.

But the back yard set-up and secret life that it hid were no more convoluted than were the workings of Garrido’s mind, which he chronicled in a Blogspot blog, for all the world to see. And, like that back yard, the outside world had no idea what secrets that blog was hiding.

This is the House that Hid the Horrible Secret that Jaycee Dugard was a Prisoner Out Back

The blog, called “Voices Revealed”, was started in May of 2007. About a year later, Garrido incorporated a religious organization called “Gods Desire”, registering the organization with the State of California.

During this time, and throughout, Garrido blogged about his “producing voices” of “unearthly” origin. He blogs about “cultural trance”, and says he has evidence that clearly intimates that schizophrenia is really a form of both internal and external mind control being practiced by ..well, he doesn’t say by whom. But what he does say is that “There is new insight that has the potential of helping people who hear voices to possibly stop and reexamine their thinking before committing a violent act on themselves and / or others. A prime example is the woman who threw her three children into the San Francisco Bay. This tragic act could have been avoided if my findings were made public before she found herself being led by a powerful internal and external (hearing) process that places the human mind under a hypnotic siege that in time leads a person to build a delusional belief system that drives them to whatever course of action they take.”

He also posts to his blog the declarations (similar to an affidavit) of several people who, in 2006, claimed to have witnessed Phillip Knight Garrido “provide a demonstration at my place of business, controlling a voice or set of voices that are unearthly in nature.”

And then it just starts to get whacky. From his “power” to allow others to hear unearthly voices that come through him, he moves to talking about the mind control being exercised by … someone .. and then seems to suggest that the entire human race is walking around fully equipped to communicate mind-to-mind, once God deems that we are ready.

God, Garrido tells us, wants us to know that “His intentions are to protect life and not destroy it.”

The irony of someone who kidnapped an 11-year-old, “protected” her for 18 years, fathered a child with her when she was 14, and another 4 years later, talking about “mind control” and “protecting” life and not destroying it is almost as mindboggling as the deed itself.

But that Garrido was able to not only pull this off for almost twenty years, but was actively, publicly putting himself out there on the Internet (and we do mean “out there”) and, indeed, calling out the authorities on their failings for not heeding his mind control warnings, while doing so, demonstrates a level of either audacity - or insanity - so acute as to be beyond belief.

In the very last post to his blog, called “Voices Revealed”, Phillip Garrido exclaims that “the Creator has given me the ability to speak in the tongue of angels in order to provide a wake-up call that will in time include the salvation of the entire world. You too can witness what the world believe’s (sic) is impossible to produce! email: godsdesire@rocketmail.com. DON’T MISS OUT!”

Jaycee Lee Dugard, and her two daughters, have already missed out - on so, so much. We wish them peace and healing.
