Security experts are reporting that the newest version of the Bagle virus is being delivered in email packages with friendly subject lines like “Hello,”, “Thank you!”, and “Thanks :)”, with the actual payload files (the .exe files which do the dirty work) labelled as “joke” or, incongruously, “price”. Yet as innocuous as the presentation may seem, this version of Bagle is more than just your regular security-breaching, self-installing, spam-sending virus. It also tries to turn off your firewall and security services, and even tries to block rival Netsky virus. This variant of Bagle is targetting systems running Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000 and XP. So make sure that your virus definitions in your anti-virus software are current.
