The Vitality GlowCap is an Internet-connected pill bottle cap that reminds you when it’s time to take your medicine, calls you if you wait too long, and even emails a weekly summary of your prescription compliance to a designated friend or family member. The Vitality GlowCap can also re-order your medication when you run out, and send a monthly printed report to your physician.

At the heart of the Vitality GlowCap is a tiny cell phone chip embedded within the cap, that allows the pill bottle top to send email, make phone calls, and even send text messages.

Explains Vitality’s CEO, David Rose, “The social aspect of this is important. Almost every successful behavior change program, the academics will tell you, involves social dynamics, whether it’s smoking cessation or Weight Watchers.”

A interesting, and even clever idea. Unfortunately, Vitality has chosen to partner with AT&T as their bottle cap service provider, and we all know how well that’s worked out for Apple’s iPhone.
