NerdTV is a new television show which is available for online download over the Internet. Correction: NerdTV is available only via download over the Internet, making it a first.

Last month Tivo started offering downloads of television shows, documentaries and movies before they aired on television, in conjunction with the Independent Film Channel, but this is the first time of which I’m aware that a television show has been made available only over the Internet. Which, I suppose, begs the question, is it really a television show?

In any event, NerdTV is a new weekly chat show, with Robert X. Cringely as your host. According to them, NerdTV is “essentially Charlie Rose for geeks - a one-hour interview show with a single guest from the world of technology.”

They also explain that “Guests like Sun Microsystems co-founder Bill Joy or Apple computer inventor Steve Wozniak are household names if your household is nerdy enough, but as historical figures and geniuses in their own right, they have plenty to say to ALL of us.”

True enough.

NerdTV is available in MPEG-4, making it compatible with Quicktime. It’s also available as an audio feed, for those who may prefer NerdRadio or NerdPodCast.

You can get your dose of NerdTV at NerdTV.org [not .com]
