If you are looking for a good free anti spam spamfighter - a free spam blocker or free email spam filter - to help you deal with spam email, here are a couple of free spam filters and free spam blockers - including free anti spam software - that you may not have heard about! There is even free anti spam software for World of Warcraft users (SpamMeNot and one version of SpamSentry).

The first one that we want to talk about is SpamJab. SpamJab has been around for several years, but is relatively unknown. While the term “jab” (as in ’spamjab’) as referring to an inoculation is relatively unknown in the United States, it’s fairly common in many parts of the world, and indeed it is that to which SpamJab refers: inoculating your email against spam. SpamJab works by inserting itself between your inbound email and your inbox, via your POP server. It is currently free - and has been since inception, circa 2003. SpamJab is the brainchild of serial entrepreneur Farrukh Khan. Check out SpamJab free spam blocker.

Spamfighter is an anti spam software program that offers a free spam filter for personal use. Spamfighter works with Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail, and Windows Server. Spamfighter uses the collaborative model, very similar to that of Cloudmark. According to the SpamFighter site, “3.606.040 users are already spam protected by SPAMfighter… If a SPAMfighter receives a spam mail that is not detected by SPAMfighter, the user reports the spam mail with one click, and it’s removed from the rest of the SPAMfighters in seconds.” Although it’s not really obvious from the site, after the free thirty-day trial, home users can opt to continue using the free version. Read more at the SpamFighter anti spam software website.

There are two different anti spam services bearing the “spamsentry” moniker. There is SpamSentry the spam email anti spam service, and Spam Sentry the anti-spam product for World of Warcraft users (yes, WoW users get spammed at their WoW accounts).

SpamSentry the anti spam email program is a bit of a mystery. They promise to have 99% of “spam and undesired email NOT delivered to your email account”, and offer, they say, challenge response, blacklisting, white listing, revoked list management, and pre-spam filtering. They are fairly low profile (which is why you may not have heard fo them), and you need to contact them directly for more information. You can contact them at the SpamSentry website.

Not to be confused with the previous SpamSentry, there is also SpamSentry for World of Warcraft users. Another anti-spam product for WoW users is SpamMeNot.

Do you have a favourite, lesser known anti spam filter or blocker? Let us know about it!
