Is the T-Mobile Sidekick About to Become the MCI Sidekick?

This news release just came across Aunty’s desk, and inquiring minds want to know!:

ASHBURN, Va., June 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — MCI, Inc. today announced a four-year agreement with Danger, Inc., provider of the hiptop(R) mobile Internet platform, the software and services that power the
popular T-Mobile Sidekick handheld device. MCI will provide a hosting environment to meet the growing demand for sophisticated mobile Internet and data services offered by Danger to wireless operators.

With MCI’s Premium Data Center Services, Danger can focus on further development of compelling wireless data applications and services for the mobile Internet. As more wireless operators adopt Danger’s mobile Internet platform, MCI Data Center Services offer the performance, security, and scalability for hosted data services that Danger requires to meet the growing demand for wireless instant messaging, email and Internet access.

“Danger can rely on MCI Hosting Services to keep their next-generation wireless operations running smoothly day-in and day-out,” said Steve Young, senior vice president of MCI Commercial Markets. “As more wireless operators rely on these new ‘must-have’ IP-based services, MCI Hosting is playing an increasingly important role supporting Danger’s operations so they can focus on serving their customers.”

Due to its rigorous operational requirements, Danger reviewed a number of different hosting providers at the direction and counsel of LinkSource Communications LLC, a California-based telecom services and consulting firm. Danger determined that the capabilities of MCI’s Data Center Services met the critical networking and infrastructure objectives for Danger as its business grows through partnerships with other wireless operators nationally and abroad.

“We selected MCI for its distinguished reputation for Data Center Services that deliver unparalleled global reach, scalability, security and reliability,” said Arnold Magacle, Danger’s senior network operations manager. “We are confident that MCI’s state-of-the-art hosting facilities will meet our rapidly expanding networking requirements today and into tomorrow.
