Sick and tired of Facebook’s new and “improved” News Feed on your home page? Even their “Live Feed” not cutting it for you? Want the old-style ’status updates’ back? Here’s how to give that “News Feed” and “Live Feed” the boot, and get those good old status updates back.
First, go to your Facebook home page, and look at the list in the upper left corner, that lists things like “News Feed”, “Live Feed”, “Photos”, “Pages”, etc., and click on the link that says “More”.

After clicking on the “More” link, look at the list, and find the listing for “Status Updates”.

Hover your mouse over the three horizontal blue bars to the right of where it says “Status Updates”, and your cursor will change to a little hand, which allows you to move the “Status Updates” listing to any position along the listing that you like.

Now, drag the “Status Updates” listing to the top of the list…

… and be sure to go down to the bottom of the list and click on ‘less’, or your changes may not be saved.

And that’s it! Welcome back to your old “Status Updates” on your home page!
A tip of the hat to friend and colleague Todd Herr for telling us about this!

Some time in the first week of Feb. 2010 Facebook ’simplified’ the home page UI and removed the ability to do this sort of tweaking.

I have tried your method, but facebook has made it impossible to change the live feed to the status updates on the homepage.
