Have you tried lost section of the AERN section of petfinder?http://disaster.petfinder.com/emergency/rescue/searchForm.cgi?type=lost
You do really need to post a little more information aobut the dog. A breed would be helpful. You can verify info when a potentail match is made with vet records etc.

Have you all tried using petfinder lost listings?http://disaster.petfinder.com/emergency/rescue/searchForm.cgi?type=lost
or contacted Stealth volunteers-a group whose sole purpose is finding the owners of lost pets. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/stealthvolunteers
Good luck!

Go to www.petfinder.com and lick on the Animal Emergency Rescue Network and post the dog as Found. You can also look through the Lost to see the families pleading for their pets. Everyone taking Katrina dogs were to sign them up there, so owners can locate them.

You have rec'd misinformation, no one has to give permission to list a pet on Petfinder.com's Animal Emergency Rescue Network (http://disaster.petfinder.org/emergency/). Anyone can list found Katrina pets. Their listing should contain a good description along w/ a good picture. You can leave out one bit of info you believe only the owner would know. There are many volunteers still helping many desperate Katrina survivors search for their lost pet families. Searching is very difficult because of lack of good info and a picture in many of the found listings. Also, because many shelters did not make a listing or they did not update an existing listing with the pet's info to give their present location. Anything you can do to help this situation would be greatly appreciated. You can check these two sites for pictures of lost pets w/ pictures, but keep in mind that more listing do not have pictures. These families have lost everything, including any pictures they may have had. See: http://www.lostkatrinapets.com/ and http://www.wroberts.org/PF/LOST/ Thank you for wanting to do the right thing!

Have you taken in a Hurricane Katrina or Rita pet? If so, please check www.lostkatrinapets.com to see if you recognise your new friend there--someone may be desperately seeking this animal.Check also the Lost postings in the disaster section of Petfinder at http://disaster.petfinder.com/emergency/ and *POST* your "found" posting here too. Please try to include a photograph. If you don't have a digital camera, a picture can be taken with a film camera (even a cheap disposable type) and the hard copy photo scanned onto a CD at most places that do photo processing; Kinko's, Walgreens, etc.

I have a Katrina rescue dog. Medium Size, Male about 8 months old now, who was brought to the philadelphia area and I so want to find his owners if possible. I have tried so many options, to no avail. My sister saw your email comments and I couldn't figure out how to contact you from the message, therefore I am writing you this email. Please email me if you have any informative imformation so I can get this dog back to his family. by the way he is VERY healthly now and I am taking him to classes of which he is doing VERY well. Thank you
