The Netflix purge where nearly 100 movies will be removed from the Netflix catalogue, including Titanic, Being John Malkovich, and Braveheart, will take place just past midnight on 12/31/13.
Of course, this is all driven by legal and industry concerns; Netflix acquires (and has to pay royalty or other monies for) the right to makes those movies available, and at the end of the calendar year, that contract expires. They can either renew the contract, or not. Or, sometimes they may not even have the option to renew the contract.
In addition to all of the movies being purged, five television shows will be purged. They are: Dark Shadows, Mr. Bean, Kids in the Hall, Perfect 10 Model Boxing, and some of the Saturday Night Live episodes (the 2000s).
Here is the full list of the movies being purged from Netflix. Note that there are three movies (the Disney version of Alice in Wonderland, Immortals, and Dynamite Warrier) that will be around until the 4th of January. The rest go poof at midnight tonight:
