The reason why Google is upset is this: Microsoft already owns 80% of the desktops in the world, they also provide IE which comes with Windows and is the default browser. If they make Bing the default search engine on their browser, then they are unfairly using their dominant PC & Web Browser market positions to keep competitors, such as Google, Cuil, Lycos, etc. from gaining any kind of foothold on Microsoft desktops. This is called being anti-competitive. As we all know in America, anti-competitive practices are illegal. Why? Because lack of competition leads to commercial stagnancy instead of innovation. It also leads to price-fixing among other things. This is how MS has operated their business from the start, and there have been many lawsuits over the years accusing them of unfair business practices. This isn't the first time. That's why Google is upset. It's not a question of who has the better product these days, it's about who has the ability to roadblock their competitors.

Help. I've gone back to IE6 but it's made MSN my default search engine now instead of Google. I want Google but can't change it! How can I please?

I imagine they're pissed because IE has about 90% of the market share still. But really, what do they expect? Of course MS is going to make MSN search the default in their browser. Now, if they were making it the only option, which is a MS-like move, that might warrant complaint.

I really don't understand why Google is pissing and moaning. They're already the default in *all* the other major browsers.

I think Google's services are the best out there but they cannot have it all. If Google had their own browsers you can bet your last dollar that their search engine would be the default. Why cannot Mircosoft do the same?
