Fred Durst, frontman for rock band Limp BizKit, is finding himself in a new leading role, in a sex video in which Durst is seen having sex with an unidentifed woman, and which has been posted to the Internet by someone calling themselves the “T-Mobile Terrorist”. The sex video hacker is assumed by many to be the same hacker responsible for hacking in to Paris Hilton’s T-Mobile Sidekick. However, Fred Durst claims that the sex video was stolen from his computer, and that he doesn’t even use a T-Mobile Sidekick. That makes sense, as neither video recording and playback, nor file attaching, are possible with the Sidekick.

The sex video started making the rounds last week, following the highly publicized posting of the private details of Paris Hilton’s hacked T-Mobile Sidekick account. Given that responsiblity for the Durst sex video is being claimed by the “T-Mobile Terrorist” it’s natural to assume that the source was the same, but Durst believes that the sex video actually was removed from his computer by a technician who was fixing his system, and looking to capitalize on the star’s fame. Of course that doesn’t mean that the “T-Mobile Terrorist” didn’t somehow acquire the video and post it near and far.

Said Durst of the matter, “If you wanna know how not secure you are, just take a look around. Nothing’s secure. Nothing’s safe. It’s just helping us get better, causing awareness for homeland security. … I don’t hate technology, I don’t hate hackers, because that’s just what comes with it, without those hackers we wouldn’t solve the problems we need to solve, especially security.”

He also added that he hopes that people learn from what happened to him and Paris Hilton.

Unfortunately, judging from the search traffic for the sex video and Paris Hilton’s personal information, I suspect that what people are learning from these incidents is not to be more secure, but to devour the personal information of celebrities which gets posted to the Internet, in a digital gawker feeding frenzy.
