Does the screen itself have a “power save” where the screen does not light up but the keys do on a sidekick III?

I need to know if there is a way to delete the messages in my sent folder before they have been saved to the server. Its making my fone go slow so can anyone tell me if theres a way to delete them or make everything go faster?

I lost the charger for my sidekick and I need to know if I can just use a different charger if it fits on the phone. I tried to use another charger, but the charging light never came on..The phone will not turn on at all unless I put someone else’s battery in it. Is the problem not the charger, but the ancient battery?
