A company called Capgemini has been contracted to build an enormous online database of every single child in England, including their address and the telephone numbers.

The database, called ContactPoint, and which is surely the stuff of which the wet dreams of hackers and online paedophiles everywhere is made, is, ironically, the (over)response to the unfortunate demise of a young girl in England, Victoria Climbié. Victoria was killed by her great-aunt who, it is alleged, “tortured her to death.” An inquiry into her death revealed that England’s social service system had been called into play several times, when child care providers and hospitals suspected that the child was being abused, but that the social services system failed her at every turn.

Now, in response. England is about to put the private details of every single child - from birth to 18 years of age, in a massive database which can be accessed online.

Not only can it be accessed online, but it will be accessible to a myriad of agencies all throughout England, including medical agencies, educational institutions, social services agencies, and even volunteer agencies. Basically there will be so many points of entry that the database is practically guaranteed to be breached by paedophiles and hackers looking to sell the data, from around the globe.

This can only be categorized, in our opinion, as a thoroughly misguided effort that will, in the name of the horrible and ultimate abuse of one child, lead to the disappearance, abuse, and death of many more.

  1. What a stupid and dangerous idea!

Now, when the perverts access the database they will know, right away, where all the little kiddies are.

This will certainly cut down on time they used to waste stalking their victims.

    How ridiculous!

This is not going to help any children.

  3. An absolute disgrace and misguides misuse of information that is not theirs to give out. If i find my childs information in any site other than that which i choose for my own reasons i will take the party through court. I am struggling to keep my son from broadcasting his private information off the net, the last thing i want is someone else putting it out there.
