Ok, now admit it. How many of you set ringtones not for people you like, and whose call you want to be sure to answer, but for people whom you don’t like, and whose call you want to be sure to avoid?

For all of you out there - and you know who you are - Modtones now offers Distones.

Explains the site, “Having your phone ring all day long with the latest hip-hop hit is SOOO 2003. Step into 2005 and dis your callers with a few DisTones. We all have enemies and assigning songs like American Idiot, Shut Up and F.U. Right Back to choice callers is the perfect way to know which calls to avoid.”

Even better, they say, is their special “silent ring tone”, which at first blush may seem like an oxymoron, but is actually kinda hecka cool. The silent ring tone, explains the Distones page, “effectively shuts down callers by sending them to voice mail without you even having to acknowledge the call.”
Distones include TLC’s “Creep”, the Ramone’s “Beat on the Brat”, and Janet Jackson’s “Nasty”, along with many others whose names Aunty won’t repeat here.

You can get Mudtone’s Distones here.

None of us are perfect, and there are times we meet someone, give them our Cell Phone number, and for a while enjoy the interaction. Only to learn that they are not someone we would want calling us, or someone we wish not to interact with. DisTones can help with this. Just remember it is you who makes the final decision, as to answer or not answer the call.
